CONTESTS……..

January 6th, 2010

We are going to have a lot of fun opportunities for you to win puzzles or discount coupons when you visit our website. Who knows what kind of ideas we’ll come up with but we’ll definitely try to make it enjoyable.

Here’s our starters:

PUZZLE FOR A PENNY:  each month we will price one puzzle for a penny. You won’t know which puzzle nor will you know when it will be offered. The first person to find it and purchase it for a penny will be the lucky one.  As soon as someone buys it for a penny, the price will revert back to the normal purchase price.

The first puzzle will be offered for a penny sometime during January. Check the puzzles and check the prices… if you see one for a penny and you want it… buy it. There’s only one winner each month (the first one to find it) and you can only win the contest one time (this is done to give everyone a fair chance).

(The winner will pay normal shipping charges.)

GUESS THE NUMBER OF JIGSAW PUZZLE PIECES:  Win a free puzzle of your choice. The jar you see pictured is filled with jigsaw puzzle pieces from old GoAnywhere puzzles. The jar measures 4 ¾” by 4 ¾” and is 6 inches tall.

Your job is to guess how many pieces are in the jar. You are allowed one guess per week. The contest will end with the first exact guess… or, if there is no exact guess, it will end at noon on February 10 and the closest guess will win. If there is a tie, the earliest guess will be declared the winner.

(The winner will pay normal shipping charges.)

Send your guesses to:    info@goanywherepuzzles.com

WHY DO JIGSAW PUZZLES?

July 7th, 2009

Well, the obvious reason is that they are just plain fun!

But, as research has shown, they are much more as this short quote shows:

“Jigsaw puzzles are great for mental stimulation and exercising your mind. Mind and mental exercises help to keep your brain young.”

It is a fact that jigsaw puzzles are excellent brain training and co-ordination improvement tools. They help develop many skills and abilities including reasoning, analyzing, deducing and other problem solving abilities. They also improve hand-eye coordination and help you develop an improved sense of spacial arrangements.

We now know that the brain is pretty much like any other muscle… and like any muscle, it needs to be exercised and jigsaw puzzles can be one of the best “exercise machines” you can use. The brain can literally be “re-trained” – made to work better by the use of puzzles, including jigsaw puzzles.

And the great thing is… AGE IS NOT A FACTOR!  Jigsaw puzzles are not just for kids, they are in fact, a great brain exercise for adults… and the more challenging, the better. More and more we read about the positive effects of doing puzzles on forgetfulness, dementia and even reducing the risk of alzheimer’s.  Just do an internet search and you’ll find lots of great information.

SO KEEP ON EXERCISING YOUR BRAIN……………………………..

Welcome to GoAnywhere Puzzles!

May 5th, 2009

GoAnywhere Puzzles are designed with one goal in mind… to produce high quality wooden jigsaw puzzles that will literally Go Anywhere!

Artist's Model

Artist's Model

The idea for GoAnywhere Puzzles started a number of years ago when owner David Biglands was working in industry and doing a lot of traveling. One day, just for something different, he used his scrollsaw to hand cut a small jigsaw puzzle and used an empty overhead transparency box as a portable working surface. It was pretty crude… the lid and the bottom were held together by two rubber bands and the puzzle pieces shifted around at will…. but it worked. On a long plane trip, he opened the box up on the tray table and put together a puzzle of about 75 pieces. It made a long flight go by much faster.

That same puzzle was subsequently taken apart and put back together in the hotel and yet again on the flight back home!

That experience was the starting point - the beginning of GoAnywhere Puzzles: “the new dimension in jigsaw puzzles”.

Check out all of our puzzles here.
